I'm Carlena Davis, Founder of Spilling the Sweet Tea. As a Southern girl born and raised in Kinston, North Carolina, I've always had a deep love for cooking and sharing recipes. In July 2017, I decided to turn this passion into a food blog where I could "spill the sweet tea" on traditional Southern dishes while also sharing quick and easy meals for busy parents like myself

 

My culinary journey began in my mother's kitchen. She taught me everything I know about cooking, and those cherished moments inspired me to pass down these traditions to my own daughter. Our family recipes are at the heart of what I do, bringing authentic Eastern North Carolina flavors to kitchens across the country

In 2020, I expanded my brand by launching Miss Lena's, which includes my homemade preserves, buttermilk and sweet potato biscuit mixes, and my signature Biscuit Bowl. I'm also proud to be an author, having published both a cookbook dedicated to my Southern heritage and a children's book under the Maya's World brand.

When I'm not creating new recipes in my kitchen, I'm leveraging my MBA in Marketing and years of sales experience to grow my brands. I currently live on the East Coast with my husband and daughter, where I continue to reimagine classic recipes with my own special twist.
