Grilled Chicken Street Tacos

Updated: Sep 4, 2020

We have discussed this! Taco Tuesday is my favorite day of the week. These chicken street tacos are so simple and easy to make and perfect for your next Taco Tuesday fiesta. I used my homemade Taco seasoning on my chicken and topped with lots of fresh ingredients. I used a grill cast iron skillet to make these tacos. I use a cast iron skillet a lot when I cook and even when I am grilling on my stove top. This grill skillet is one my favorites. Check out the video below to see how amazing the grill marks are with this skillet.

The one thing that I love about tacos are the endless possibilities when it comes to toppings. My favorite toppings include red onions, fresh cilantro, diced tomatoes and a few slices of avocado. I used the Mission street taco flour tortillas because flour is my favorite but they also have yellow corn tortillas. My favorite cheese to use on these tacos is queso fresco cheese. Queso Fresco is a soft, moist cheese. Curd-like, light and fresh with a salty and slightly tangy flavor but with more mild, milky notes. You have to freshly grate it and it is great on enchiladas, tacos and salads. Lastly, I love a squeeze of lime juice on top of my taco before I take my first bite. Below is the recipe. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Serves 4

1 package of chicken tenderloins

1 1/2 tablespoon of homemade taco seasoning

1 package of Mission street taco flour tortillas

Olive oil

Queso Fresco cheese

Diced tomatoes

Diced red onions

Fresh cilantro

Sliced avocados

  1. Heat up your grill pan to medium high heat.

  2. Drizzle the chicken tenderloins with olive oil.

  3. Sprinkle homemade taco seasoning on the chicken.

  4. Grill chicken on each side until done.

  5. Heat flour tortillas on grill pan.

  6. Add chicken to the tacos and top with toppings.

Enjoy with a squeeze of lime juice before serving. I always use a Taco Holder when building my tacos. This one is my favorite. If you don't have a grill pan and want to warm up your tortillas, you can use a tortilla warmer. I like my tortillas to be soft and warm before adding my toppings. If you like your tortillas to have more of a crust, heat your them in your grill pan.

Homemade Taco Seasoning

2 tablespoons of chili powder

2 teaspoons of ground cumin

2 teaspoons of garlic powder

2 teaspoons of paprika

1 teaspoon of dried oregano

1 teaspoon of salt

1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

1/2 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes

Whisk until combined.

*This recipe makes more than you need for the tacos. Store in an air tight container for future use. *
