Honey Garlic Wings

Football season is back! If you are looking for some good grid iron eats, you are in the right place for some great recipes. I am spilling the tea on some of my favorites this football season starting with these baked honey garlic chicken wings. These wings are one of my favorites because they are baked and not fried so I don't feel guilty snacking on these wings as a game day snack. I also love the dry rub and the flavor the rubs gives the chicken wings. It has an Asian flare with the use of ground ginger in the dry rub. You honestly can bake these wings with the dry rub and stop there. It is really that good. If you like your wings a little sassy and saucy, then make the sauce below to toss the wings in once they are done. These wings are absolutely delicious and are truly the definition of finger licking good. They are sweet and sticky and the perfect snack for your Game Day eats. I top them with freshly sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds and serve them with homemade ranch dressing and celery sticks. Here's how to make it!

Ingredients to Make the Dry Rub

2 tablespoons of course kosher salt

1 tablespoon of paprika

1 teaspoon of ground ginger

1 tablespoon of garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper

1 teaspoon of black pepper

Directions to Make the Dry Rub

Whisk all the dry ingredients together in a small bowl. Set aside.

Ingredients to Make the Honey Garlic Sauce

1 cup of honey

8 tablespoons of soy sauce

1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger

5 cloves of garlic, crushed

1 tablespoon of rice vinegar

1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper

2 teaspoons of cornstarch

2/3 cups of water

Directions to Make the Honey Garlic Sauce

  1. Combine honey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic cloves, red pepper, and vinegar together in a bowl.

  2. In a coffee cup, add cornstarch and a tiny bit of water and whisk until smooth. Then add the remaining water whisk until combined.

  3. Add cornstarch mixture to the honey mixture and stir well.

  4. Over medium heat, cook sauce until thickened. About thirty minutes. The sauce should coat the back on a spoon. Remove the crushed garlic.

Directions on How to Make the Honey Garlic Wings

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Wash and clean 3 pounds of chicken wings. Then pat dry.

  3. Add chicken to a large bowl and drizzle about two tablespoons of olive oil on the chicken. Massage the oil into the chicken.

  4. Add all of the dry rub to the three pounds of chicken and massage the rub into the chicken.

  5. Add aluminum foil to the bottom of a baking sheet and top with a oven safe cooling rack. Spray the top of the rack with olive oil spray.

  6. Place seasoned chicken on the rack and bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until all pieces are crispy. There will be pieces that will be done faster than others so remove wings according to doneness to large bowl and set aside.

  7. Once all the wings are done and in the bowl, add the honey garlic sauce to the bowl and toss the wings in the sauce. Top with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Enjoy while cheering on your favorite team.
