Need a fun Halloween activity to do with your kids? These Spooky Witch Fingers are a tasty Halloween treat and fun to make with your little ones! This is a spooky sweet and salty treat for a Halloween party or just a fun activity to do with your kids. You only need a few ingredients and tools to make these at home. My five year old loved helping me make them because she got to dip the pretzels in the melted candy and paint the almonds “the witches nails” with the black food gel. I hope you enjoy making them as much as we did! Happy Halloween from Spilling the Sweet Tea 🎃
Ingredients Needed to Make Spooky Witch Fingers
12 raw almonds
1 tube black gel food coloring
12 large pretzel rods
12 oz bag of green candy melts
Paintbrush
Parchment Paper
Directions to Make Spooky Witch Fingers
Cut an inch off each pretzel rod and set aside. You want the rod to about the size of a finger.
Melt the candy melts over a double broiler to ensure smooth consistency. Stir until the candy melts are completely melted and smooth.
Holding the pretzel rod by the unbroken end, dip it in the green coating until almost all of it is covered, leaving about a 1/2-inch section undipped at the top where you are holding it.
Place the dipped pretzel on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. While the dipped pretzel is still wet, place one almond on the tip of the pretzel rod.
After about 10-15 minutes, use a toothpick to add wrinkles to the make the fingers look more realistic. Hold the toothpick perpendicular to the pretzels and gently roll it across the top to add wrinkles. Make two sets—one set near the fingernail, and one set about halfway down the finger.
With a paintbrush, paint black food gel on the almonds of each dipped pretzel rod.
Refrigerate the pretzel rods for about 10-15 mins until the candy completely sets.
